Hi I recently updated my droid and I am having a really hard time using my text messaging. I had the handcent sms app but it was taking forever to open so i deleted it and now I can’t get any texts at all…what do i do?
@Elyse… sorry but I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe see about your service provider telling you what you need to re-install to make texting work on your phone again. I’d assume that a different text/messaging app would work, but I might be wrong in that assumption.
HI well i have this problem that i will like you guys to help me fix ok so ihave a droid that they sold me its already used but when i try to download lik app’s or game & more it shows in the crean the Email of the person that used to have it & i need his password to go into the MARKET so my question is is there any way i can delete his account & make a new one so i can use my own MARKET?
@Jose… interesting dilemma, however I don’t know how to fix it. I’m guessing that your service provider has help for you as they are usually the ones to setup new devices and would know how to “Reset” the owner’s info. If someone looking here has an answer for Jose, feel free to leave it here in the comments thread… thanks!
Ok, I currently have the Incredible 2 and am trying to send music to an older verizon phone (flip) and it is saying that the old phone will not support the file I am trying to send. Anyway to fix this? Or is there another way to send a song to an older model phone? Please help!
@Kelli… here is how I would approach your request… start with the older phone and see what types of files it can take… then see if your new phone can email or export that format to the older phone. You may find that the older phone can’t take what your newer one has. Hopefully they can share the same file format …then you just have to deal with getting the file to the proper phone. Good luck.
My calendar does not update birthdays etc. from my contacts. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks
Okay, so I have a LG Optimus S and I really want to change my ringtone, but it wont let me. If I try to change it, it will just play my ringtone I have now. Is there anyway I could fix it?
@Skylar Can you go to Settings >> Menu >> Sound ? At this point there should be multiple options for changing various ringtones on your phone… the main one is usually called “Incoming Calls / Phone Ringtone” choose it, be sure to say “OK” if offered, then hopefully the change sticks.
Hi, I need help using my advanced task killer. I used to be able to tap on the app & it would close out any running apps & I was able to see my memory. for some reason when I tap on it now it opens the advanced killer app but does not close the running apps. How do I set it up to the way I previously had?
@cyn I would assume that the ATK app you launch by tapping on it, offers you the “Kill selected apps” button up top. That is the button to tap to kill the apps selected in the list. You can adj settings for the App via the Menu/Settings choice when the app is running. Maybe you turned off the “Auto Start” option which should be on.You might also look at the setting you have chosen for “Default Click Action”.
hi, i a nerd. I was given a droid for Xmas, and I habve no idea how to use it. Im trying to google and i get no internet connection, so i go to the mobile store and they tell i need to get a “hotspot” cost- $145.00??!! are they kiddin me? Help me.
thanks
@Clarice So you got a phone as a gift…congrats! U Better find out from the current plan provider what you got. I’d guess that there is no Data Plan on your phone if you can’t seem to get to the Internet. Buying a “hotspot” is a strange solution for a phone (IMO)… it may be useful for another device (aka tablet) wanting to use WiFi, but your Droid phone should be able to 1) use the Internet on it’s own and/or 2) utilize any WiFi you have nearby if it can’t use the Internet on its own via a Data Plan.
hi there i’m dany can you tell me please how can i use my droid before I never use this,so can you give some lessons to use that please thanks,
@Dany Thanks for visiting our site… a good place to start is with our Tutorial Sets: http://www.usemydroid.com/droid-tutorials/#browsesets
I’ve included a link right to them (the text versions) but we also have a video set as well. You might want to start with the “Home Screen” article.
I can’t find an alarm on my droid. The phone came with a bunch of apps but no alarm. Anybody know if there is one included or is it something I have to download?
@droid challenged… The phone likely came with a CLOCK app. Most clock apps also have an alarm with them.
Dear UseMyDroid. I found my alarm. Thanks for the help. I’ve had this phone for months an couldn’t find it. You’re the best
I am going to Riviera Maya in a month. Will my Droid 3 (Verizon) allow me to use my e-mail for free with WiFi at the resort? I realize that phone calls and texting will cost a lot of money but is there no cost to e-mail? or Skype even?
@going to Mexico – It all depends on your service plan. BUT… getting on the web and doing stuff (i.e. Skype, Email, etc.) should be free for you IF you already pay for your data plan, don’t have to pay the resort to use their WiFi, etc. So Yup, for most people the answer is use the Internet with your phone and its free.
hi, i have a problem in my 2.2 fayro anroid phone, basically i regularly use my g mail account and lots of time i received attachment with my mail and every time when i want to open attachment i download it but its open only one time and when i want again open attachment that proses i repeat actually its not allow me open attachment with out downloading and it is very bad thing so i want that i download my mail attachment only one time then any time i found my mail attachment without downloading and that feather i sow in windows phone (Nokia Lumia 710,800)so please solve my problem and send your reply as earlier.

@Hari, With newer Droid phones you have an area called a File Manager (look in the Apps tray). Open the file manager and look for a folder named ‘Downloads’ your downloaded files should be in there. Sometimes the downloads (if they are images) may end up accessible in your ‘Gallery’ – the place where images go when you use your camera. Hope that helps. Thanks for using our site.
Is it okay to charge your phone on your computer when at work? Also my phone when it is charging on the computer at work gets hot is this normall? Also how long after its done charging should you remove it? Also when its charging is it okay to play games on it or be on the net?
@Brittany… OK to play games while charging, that will slow down the charge, but still OK. The phone should tell you when it is done charging… mainly to ‘save electricity’ not so much for the phone… but like I mentioned before, I suggest letting the battery cycle down (don’t keep charging it all the time) on occasion.
I don’t understand how to use Where’s My Droid.
Can you help me out?
Tx
@Lorraine, If you are talking about the App called ‘Where’s My Droid’ no, I can’t help. I think it is supposed to help you locate your phone via GPS, but that would drain the battery a lot and I don’t know if it works when the power is ‘off’. Sorry but I don’t know much about that App.
I am having an issue I can’t view pictures or videos on some websites. Is this an issue with my settings or does Android not support some file formats?
It is an HTC incredible 2 by the way.
@Darrel, Android should support most video formats (including all those that use Flash to show the videos), but there are some video formats that are not supported. Unfortunately there are still some video formats that just don’t work well or at all for mobile devices.
I have a DROID GLOBAL 2. I have taken some videos with it. I can’t email or text message them. It says files are too BIG. I do NOT have a You Tube account and do NOT want one. How do I get videos out of phone and send other people?
frist of all i want to tell you all i love the website..my question is my android phone seem’s like its slowing down..i have an app killer and dont have any battery problems at all..i have the same apps that i have had for a while..it’s just getting slower..please help..thank you..
Hi Terre, Since you say you do not have nor want a YouTube account, yet you still want to ‘send’ videos to people, you can try to upload them to other places that allow video (i.e. Vimeo.com, Facebook.com, plus.google.com, etc… or you can make ‘smaller’ (read shorter) videos and try emailing or texting them to others. Or pull them off your phone onto your computer, copy them to a flash/thumbnail drive and give the drive to your friends. Any reason why you are so against getting and using a free YouTube account? You may not realize it but you can sent your friend unlisted YouTube videos via their gmail account, they can watch the videos in their emails, they never need to go to YouTube to watch. Videos get ‘BIG’ so emailing them from your phone is hard or impossible.
@Freddie – glad you like the site, thanks!
One idea when you’ve had the phone for a while is to shut it off, and remove the battery. Let is sit outside the phone for at least 1 minute, then put it back in and power up. That alone may help. Other ideas are to dial *228 if you use Verizon, then press 1 to let the phone ‘re-register’ itself on the network. Those are a couple of tricks I would try. NOTE: You Should NOT do the *228 for newer phones (running 4G).
thank u for ur responce..this is what i done..took out sd card and formated the USB on phone..that done the trick..i dont now how it did but it did..thank u all for being their..Freddie Neighbors..(>:
I have a droid and for some reason I can’t send video texts it says that the file is to large when some of the videos I want to send are only 10 seconds long. What can I do???
@Maria, I honestly was surprised a few years ago when I found out your could send a picture via a text. Really sending things other than text via a ‘text’ message is pushing the edge of it a bit. I’m guessing that the ‘short’ video is still too big to sent via txt. Try sending it via email, would be my suggestion. Question for you: have you ever received a video via a txt msg?
i’ve download an app called 2x battery – battery saver from android market..
but,,i don’t know how to use it..
please give me some advice..
i’ll very appreciated it..
thanks..
@Dervin, it depends on many factors. I don’t know that particular flavor of battery saving app. Does it give you a way to monitor what is draining the battery? If so that can help you know if you need to be using the apps that are draining the battery. If your phone is a newer one (i.e. runs 4G) then we do not suggest using anymore App Killers… that worked well for older phones.
When I put my pictures on to show they always go on upside down or backwards I have tried different ways and it does no good. Please get back to me thank you Diane
@Sunshine… not sure what to say except try holding your phone upside down when you take your next pic and see if anything changes!
My droid Incredible 2 wi-fi has stopped working, It scans… says connecting… then drops and starts scanning again. By the way I use House wi-fi. This problem occurred about 4 days ago.
@Tony, sorry for the late reply, perhaps you’ve found a fix… first thing I’d try is a hard reset of the phone, then maybe try *228 and press 1.
hi i have a dell xcd35 android mobile phone… its running 2.2 froyo… but dell has not released its update since launch.. i want to update it to gingerbread..
i searched on google nd saw updating via rooting the device..
how to update it without rooting?
and if i cnt do this without rooting… then pls let me know the right way to update…
thnx
hi… i have a 2.2 froyo runing dell xcd35 mobile.
its inbuilt memory is very low..
i cannot add more than 10-12 apps bcoz of this low memory..i moved apps to sd card but they still use space…
can i do something with it?
@kanu, certain apps can be moved to the SD card, certain Files can move there too. If you can move over apps and files to make more room, that would be good. Otherwise yuo may need to delete some Apps you just are not using.
@nishant – we do not deal with Rooting phones on this blog.
for non-rooted phones (normal stock phones) your update will be delivered OTA (over the air) when ready. You can verify and try to update usually via this path:
Menu / Settings / About Phone / System Updates
I have a Droid Bionic. Everyday my web browser says web page not found. I went to Verizon store they reset it but I’m still having problems. I take the battery out sometimes but I still having problem with my web browser on my Droid Bionic.
my droid 4 drains it’s battery in 5 hrs. I do very little talking, mostly txting and checking email. App updates now tell me I need to do them over wi-fi due to size of the updates. I’ve only had this phone for 1 month and I’m already ready frustrated with it.
I am wondering if you can add some constant on mic app so that if I say something like “computer” voice activation will start to listen for a command
this would make the phone truly hands free
I want a Droid Phablet!
